Premcar Navara Warrior – 5000 Utes strong

Premcar – Australia once had a thriving and proud local automotive manufacturing industry. Over the years it has been destroyed by government ineptitude.

However, in its place a buoyant secondary manufacturing and engineering industry has evolved.

One such group is Premcar in Victoria, which evolved from Tickford Vehicle Engineering.

Premcar has a strong relationship with Nissan and produces their Warrior series of Utes and soon 4WDs.

They have just celebrated the 5,000th Warrior that has rolled off the assembly line.

The Warrior is an enhanced model that has integrated improvements with Australian-designed-and-engineered components, to suit Australian conditions. It started with the N-Trek Warrior, then the Pro 4X Warrior, the SL Warrior and soon the Patrol Warrior.

The advantage of a relationship like this is local manufacturing and engineering knowledge combined with manufacturer warranty and backing.

Having driven both the Pro 4X Warrior and SL Warrior, I can attest to the quality and practicality of the enhancements.

Interested buyers can access any Nissan Warrior through your local Nissan Dealership.

The 5,000th new vehicle to be built at Premcar’s Epping (VIC, Australia) production facility has rolled off the assembly line.

The new vehicle to set the milestone was a Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior by Premcar, which completed its full Australian secondary manufacturing at the company’s Epping-based engineering and production centre on Thursday 6 April 2023.

The vehicle is part of Nissan’s highly successful Warrior by Premcar series, a new-vehicle enhancement program that takes selected model variants from Nissan’s new-vehicle range and re-engineers and re-develops them for Australia’s unique driving conditions.

Dual-cab 4×4 Navara pick-up models from the PRO-4X and SL model grades are shipped from Nissan’s overseas assembly plants to the Epping production facility for secondary new-vehicle manufacturing and completion. Once completed, they are shipped to Nissan’s national dealer network via its new-vehicle logistics provider.

During their production stop at the new-vehicle production facility in Epping, these vehicles are fitted with their Australian-designed-and-engineered components, which have all been developed for Nissan.

“Car number 5,000 means a lot to the Premcar team,” said Bernie Quinn, Engineering Director at Premcar. “In very short time, the Warrior program has grown from the original Navara N-Trek Warrior to the current PRO-4X Warrior and SL Warrior model variants. And with the Nissan Patrol Warrior’s development program in full swing, we can’t wait to add it to our local new-vehicle assembly lines and seeing it in Nissan showrooms across the country.”

Nissan Warrior

The Nissan Navara Warrior by Premcar program began in 2019 with the Navara N-Trek Warrior. Nissan Australia’s first local new-vehicle enhancement program with the local firm. The success of this engineered-and-built-for-Australia 4×4 dual-cab pick-up has continued with the award-winning Navara PRO-4X Warrior by Premcar, which was later joined by the Navara SL Warrior by Premcar in 2022.

In September last year, Nissan Australia and Premcar announced the Y62-series Patrol would join the successful Warrior by Premcar program, becoming a new model grade in Nissan’s Australian showroom line-up. The 298 kW 4×4 Patrol Warrior SUV is currently undergoing its Australian re-engineering and manufacturing development program. Premcar is scheduled to commence manufacturing and assembly in Australia later this year.

Premcar’s Nissan-based Warrior new-vehicle enhancement program follows a long line of OEM new-vehicle design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly programs performed by the Melbourne-based company, which celebrates its 27th year in 2023. Brands such as Ford, Toyota and Mazda have all benefited from Premcar’s product development input, which ranges from small engineering projects to complete new-vehicle platforms and new-model programs for global carmakers.
