Ranger Wildtrak X Availability

The first-ever Ford Ranger Wildtrak X will be on sale at Ford Dealerships throughout Australia this September. The arrival of the first Wildtrak X heralds a more off-road focussed, highly capable and outdoors oriented model, combining Ranger’s capability with the comfort, convenience and high-spec of the Wildtrak.

“Ranger owners are telling us that they want more personalisation, specialised gear and more kit for weekends away and family trips,” said Kay Hart, President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand. “The Wildtrak X brings the high equipment levels, rugged good looks and tools to take things up to the next level.”

The Ranger Wildtrak X builds on the high level of equipment offered in the ‘regular’ Ranger Wildtrak, second only to the Ford Performance Ranger RaptorWhile delivering a striking on-road presence, off-road credentials are bolstered by the Ranger’s inherent capabilities, including best-in-class water wading, 3500kg1 towing capacity as well as its advanced on-the-fly 4×4 system. Offered exclusively in 4×4 double-cab form, the Wildtrak X is designed for maximum capability, adventure and desirability.

Wildtrak X: adding the X factor to Ranger

The ‘X’ Factor  sees a smart combination of functional features that bring not only a unique rugged appeal, but also enhance Ranger’s already strong off-road capability. Immediately giving a more aggressive stance, new 18-inch alloy wheels with +35 offset in tough matte black finish show the X’s intent, and match the mud-ready additions to this unique Wildtrak. The look is bolstered by fender flares, finished in black, to emphasise the new alloys and give the Wildtrak X an unmistakable on-road presence.

Upfront, Wildtrak X leads with a black nudge bar, complete with an LED light bar for improved night-time vision, both on-road or to light up a campsite. Also hard to miss is the A-pillar-mounted snorkel, which allows the  powertrain to breathe better on dusty roads, while reducing the risk of water entering the engine compartment so that owners can make the most of the Ranger’s best-in-class 800mm water wading capability.

The dark-finish on all of the details further emphasise the charcoal detailing on Wildtrak, which sees a unique front-end – including grille, lower bumper area and door handles – finished in darker shades to help it stand apart as the premium Ranger model.

Wildtrak X: smart on the inside, too

Inside, the Ranger takes advantage of the premium features as standard on Ranger. These include leather-appointed seating with Wildtrak orange stitching detailing, which is also used on the steering wheel, gear-lever and handbrake boot.

SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capability is standard3. The 8.0-inch full-colour screen not only hosts a reversing camera, but built-in voice-activated sat-nav. The sat-nav’s ‘breadcrumbs’ feature enables an off-road route to be plotted as it’s traversed by dropping digital ‘breadcrumbs’, enabling a return journey or future revisit.

The keyless entry system allows owners hands-free entry, enabling access to the cabin when hands are full without the need to remove the key from their pocket or baggage.

As well as Smart Keyless Entry with Push-button start, Driver Assist Technology4on Ranger Wildtrak X includes Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Hill Descent Control, Hill Launch Assist as well as an electronic rear differential lock. There’s also a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, as well as Active Park Assist – a segment first.

Active Park Assist (APA) reduces stress by enabling semi-automatic parallel parking. The  APA uses ultrasonic sensors to scan for parking spaces, and once located, calculates the required trajectory. The driver needs only to apply the throttle and brakes, as the system steers  into the parking space.
