2026 Nissan Navara Fifth Generation details

Nissan Australia has announced pricing and full specifications for the new Nissan Navara, ahead of its showroom arrival in March. The fifth-generation Navara (D27) will be available in four highly equipped grades, with the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price starting from $53,348* for the SL.

The new Navara arrives as the nameplate marks its 40th anniversary, having first been delivered locally in December 1986. Since then, over 425,000 Navaras have been sold in Australia, establishing the model as a trusted workhorse and lifestyle vehicle for generations of Australian families and businesses.

Building on this four-decade legacy, the new Navara delivers go-anywhere capability supported by locally tuned suspension developed, tested and tuned by Premcar specifically for Australian conditions. This is complemented by a design that balances rugged heritage with modern sophistication, along with high levels of equipment, advanced technology and safety features that elevate the Navara into a new era.

“Australian ute buyers have long trusted the Navara name, and the all-new model delivers on that trust with meaningful improvements across the board,” said Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.

All grades of the new Navara are powered by a 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine delivering 150kW of power and 470Nm of torque, matched to a wide-ratio six-speed automatic transmission. This proven powertrain provides the grunt required for serious work applications while achieving combined cycle fuel consumption of just 7.7L/100km#.

Every variant in the new Navara range achieves a braked towing capacity of 3500kg~, ensuring capability for work and play.

Grade Overview

The new Navara range comprises four grades (SL, ST, ST-X and PRO-4X) all available exclusively as Dual Cab 4×4 Pick-Ups with automatic transmissions.

Nissan has refined the lineup based on customer preferences, with over 90 per cent of outgoing D23 Navara buyers selecting this body style and transmission combination.

Each grade is comprehensively equipped to ensure they deliver value for money.

Navara SL – From $53,348*

The entry-level Navara SL establishes a strong foundation of capability and safety at the most accessible end of the range.

Standard equipment includes an electronic locking rear differential for enhanced traction in challenging conditions, LED headlamps and LED tail lamps for superior visibility, a 7-inch Instrument Cluster Display, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB+ digital radio and wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity>, and tailgate assist for easier cargo access.

Notably, the SL is one of few entry-grade utes in the segment to offer an electronic locking rear differential as standard. This is a feature that typically requires stepping up a grade or ticking an options box elsewhere.

The SL rides on 17-inch steel wheels with 265/65R17 All-terrain tyres and comes equipped with an ‘Easy Select’ 4WD system with dual-range transfer case, allowing drivers to select between 2H, 4H, and 4L modes to suit conditions.

All safety features are available from entry grade to ensure no compromise on safety, with ANCAP 5-star credentials underpinned by eight airbags and an impressive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning with Emergency Lane Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection and Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert^.

The seats of the SL are trimmed in cloth, with silver stitching that provides a durable and comfortable cabin environment suited to demanding work applications.

Navara ST – From $56,765*

The Navara ST builds on the SL specification with additional comfort and convenience features designed for buyers who balance work duties with family and lifestyle use.

Key additions include LED front fog lamps for improved visibility in adverse conditions, 17-inch alloy wheels in silver finish, heated exterior mirrors with integrated indicators and power-folding function, a leather-accented+ steering wheel with silver inserts, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

Interior refinement is enhanced with carpet floor covering rather than vinyl. There is USB charging and privacy glass for the rear compartment.

Additionally, the ST-X includes a sports bar—an item typically purchased as a dealer accessory. Combined, these features ensure additional utility and work-ready capability, direct from the factory.

2026 Nissan Navara ST-X 081

Navara ST-X – From $63,177*

The Navara ST-X is a step-up to premium specification, combining enhanced off-road capability with elevated interior appointments.

Drivetrain capability advances significantly with the introduction of Super 4WD, featuring a Torsen limited-slip centre differential and seven selectable terrain modes (Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock). Hill Descent Control provides confident progress on steep descents.

Exterior styling is distinguished by 18-inch gunmetal grey alloy wheels with step machining, body-colour front bumper lower lip, silver-painted grille inserts and side steps. Power-folding exterior mirrors with chrome finish and integrated indicators enhance the premium presence.

Leather-accented seats+ with power adjustment for the driver, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, push-button engine start with intelligent key, and a wireless smartphone charger> deliver a refined cabin experience.

A standard 9-inch advanced infotainment system features DAB digital radio, Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity>, ensuring seamless smartphone integration.

The ST-X also features a tubliner for cargo protection, sports bar, and tailgate assist.

2026 Nissan Navara PRO-4X 003

Navara PRO-4X – From $68,418*

The range-topping Nissan Navara PRO-4X is engineered for buyers who demand off-road capability without compromising on style or equipment.

Distinctive PRO-4X styling includes a unique front grille surround with lava red orange insert, 17-inch matt black alloy wheels fitted with 265/65R17 all-terrain tyres, wheel arch moulding with lava red orange accents, black roof rails, and a ‘NAVARA’ tailgate badge finished in black with red accenting.

Inside, the PRO-4X cabin is distinguished by dark colour air conditioning finisher, leather-accented+ seats with orange stitch and suede bolster, leather-accented+ steering wheel with orange stitch, and ‘PRO-4X’ logo embossed on the front seatbacks. Black painted inner door handles and lava red orange accents throughout the front console and door trim create a cohesive premium sports aesthetic.

Exclusive to the PRO-4X grade, the towbar comes as standard, reflecting the lifestyle-focused positioning of this flagship variant. Towbar fitment can typically add $1,200 or more to the drive-away price of a new ute; as a standard inclusion, it allows customers to confidently tow trailers, boats, or recreational gear from day one, without the need to purchase or install an accessory item. A black sports bar, tubliner, and tailgate assist complete the package.

“The PRO-4X has always been about making a statement, and this new generation takes that philosophy further than ever,” said Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.

“Australian buyers in this segment increasingly want a vehicle that works hard during the week but looks the part when they’re towing the boat or heading away for the weekend. The PRO-4X delivers on both fronts—distinctive styling that stands out from the crowd, and a standard towbar fitted from the factory so it’s ready for adventure from day one.”

Premcar-Tuned Suspension: Engineered for Australia

All grades of the new Navara benefit from a suspension system developed, thoroughly tested, and tuned by Australian automotive engineering specialist Premcar uniquely for local conditions and customer requirements.

This extensive domestic engineering program saw the new Navara driven over 18,000 kilometres across every conceivable surface and driving condition—from the corrugated roads of the Outback to urban stop-start traffic with heavy loads. The result is a compliant and comfortable ride whether unladen or loaded to maximum capacity, with confident handling when towing.

“Forty years of Navara in Australia isn’t just a milestone—it’s a responsibility. Australian customers have trusted this nameplate for decades, and we’ve honoured that trust by investing in genuine local engineering,” said Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.

“The suspension tuning program with Premcar has been developed specifically for Australian roads, Australian conditions, and Australian expectations. That commitment to getting it right for this market is what the Navara badge has always stood for.”

All New Nissan Navara – tested and tuned for Australia and New Zealand 12 Nov 25

  • Nissan partnered with Premcar for local development of the new Navara suspension
  • Laden or unladen, ride and handling delivers confidence and comfort
  • Global reveal scheduled for November 19, 2025

Nissan released a video deep dive of the local engineering program for the new Navara. Revealing how Premcar has conducted rigorous local testing, tuning, and validation in Australia. To meet the specific demands of Trans-Tasman customers for the soon-to-be-revealed pickup.

“In Australia and New Zealand, the ute is just part of life – the weekday workhorse, the weekend adventurer, even the school drop-off,” said Tim Davis, Senior Manager Local Product Development and Enhancement, Nissan Australia.

“So we can’t just take a ute from another market and assume it’ll fit. It has to be fine-tuned because the conditions we face are totally unique to this part of the world.”

Nissan worked with Premcar

Nissan worked with Premcar, Australia’s renowned automotive engineering specialist and creator of the Warrior series of serious off-road hardware, to develop and test the new Navara’s suspension. The program put the vehicle through a myriad of real-world scenarios across a range of Australian conditions.

“They’ve put it through a brutal local tuning and testing program right here in Australia.”

Premcar’s testing covered the full spectrum of use cases — a range of terrain and road types, from unladen to maximum payload capacity, as well as towing performance, across all conditions, including urban driving and off-road.

“The aim is simple – to deliver a ute that excels in all scenarios,” said Davis.

Nissan localises engineering

Warwick Daly, Deputy Director Marketing & Mobility, Nissan Australia says the Navara program builds on Nissan’s commitment to local engineering.

“For almost four decades, we’ve been engineering and thoroughly evaluating cars locally, including generation on generation of utes and off-roaders. It’s about ensuring Australians and New Zealanders can have complete confidence. Knowing your vehicle will perform when and how you expect it to.

“The new Navara is the product of local engineering experience and know-how.

The domestic testing and tuning spotlight is the final of three teaser films. Leading up to the November 19 global unveiling of the new Navara.

The new Navara will officially launch in the Australian and New Zealand markets in the first half of 2026. Backed by Nissan’s comprehensive ownership program. Which includes the Nissan MORE 10-year/300,000km warranty when serviced with Nissan1.
