Toyota HiLux – Toyota has announced a revised HiLux model that is set to arrive in December 2025. This “new” model essentially is an exterior and interior makeover, rather than an all new model.
Highlights – 2026 Toyota HiLux
- Its new but not new all at the same time.
- In short, the “new” Toyota HiLux is a little disappointing.
- New HiLux range on sale from 9 December priced from $33,990.
- Prices are up across the range from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars
- New-look interior and exterior design pair with mechanical upgrades across HiLux range.
- New range-topping Rugged X grade designed to improve off-road performance and protection.
- Toyota persists with the 2.8L, 48V mild Hybrid turbo diesel engine.
- It produces 150 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque.
- This engine has had many issues with people wanting to tow with a 12 pin plug.
- The lineup loses the HiLux GR Sport with its 165kW/550Nm engine.
- There is a BEV version set to arrive in 2026 with a claimed 240 km range and a low towing rating.
- This almost falls into the “why bother” category.
- Following after that there is talk of a HiLux Hydrogen FCEV much later.
